1921/22, handcoloured lithograph, 29 x 39 cm, lo. ri. autographed Otto Mueller, on the reverse inscribed E. H., unframed. - Prov.: Estate of Erich Heckel. - Most probably the colouring is not by Mueller"s hand. - Cat. rais.: Karsch 144. It"s one of 20 copies before the numbered edition of 30 copies. - German painter a. graphic artist, leading exponent of expressionism, after being trained as lithographer he studied at the Dresden academy since 1896, in 1899 he moved to Munich where he was denied to continue his studies in 1899 by the director F. von Stuck, in 1908 he settled in Berlin where he was co-dounder of the "Neue Secession" in 1910, he came in close contact a. exhibited together with the "Brücke", in 1919 he accepted a professorship in Breslau, the Nazis removed many of his paintings from museums. - Mus.: Berlin (Brücke-Mus., Nat.-Gal.), Hannover (Sprengel-Mus.), Nürnberg (Germ.
