APPRAISE, CONSIGN, AUCTION: THIS IS HOW YOU SELL ART AND ANTIQUES WITH US

1. APPRAISAL AND OFFER

You would like to sell art, liquidate a collection or an estate? We will be happy to appraise your objects suitable for auction free of charge and make you an offer for them.

Contact us by e-mail

If possible, send us images and information (e.g. origin, dates, dimensions) of the objects. We will give you an initial assessment of the objects and advise you on how to proceed. Contact email: info@auktionshaus-stahl.de

For a consultation on consignment, you are welcome to contact our experts in advance by telephone. Here you will find all contact details and responsibilities.

At our auction house in Hamburg

Of course you can also present your works of art directly at our auction house during our daily opening hours (Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00). After examining the art objects on the original, we will make you an offer and inform you of the minimum price for the auction.

At your place

If you wish to liquidate an estate or a larger collection, we will be happy to visit you at home to examine and appraise the works of art on site.

2. AUCTION CONTRACT

Once you have decided to consign your artwork, we will conclude an auction contract with you. The term of the auction contract is four months. We will be pleased to send you the conditions on request.

The auction contract contains all information and details about the auction and the objects: a list of all objects, their minimum price, the commission and the terms of the contract. Of course, the commission is only due upon sale.

We will be happy to advise you on the transport or assist you with the collection. If necessary and desired, we will also assist you in arranging restoration or conservation work.

3. CONSIGNMENT CONDITIONS AND COMMISSION

We believe in transparency. To ensure that you do not experience any unpleasant surprises with us, we communicate the conditions right from the start:

We only charge a commission of 20% of the hammer price plus the VAT due on the commission if the consigned objects are successfully sold.

Special conditions may be granted for high-value individual objects or for the liquidation of important collections.

We do not charge you for illustrations in print and online media.

4. OUR ADVERTISING FOR YOUR CONSIGNMENT

The auction catalogue is published approx. three weeks before the auction as online and print version. In the German- and English-language online catalogue all objects described by our experts in terms of art history are illustrated free of charge, in the optional print catalogue selectively.

We advertise our auctions in the classical print media of the national and international art and daily press as well as online. In addition, we offer all objects on various international internet platforms and relevant international auction databases in addition to our own. Through various marketing activities, e.g. newsletters, press reports, advertisements in international trade journals and national newspapers, we additionally increase the sales chances of your objects. In addition, we achieve additional attention through the possibility of live bidding.

The viewing of the objects takes place during a period of one week before the auction. We present the auction offer in style in the historical ambience of our city villa on several exhibition floors.

5. SALE AND PAYMENT

In the auction, the auctioneer takes into account bids from written remote bidders, telephone bidders and online bidders in addition to the room bidders, with the aim of achieving the optimum market price for your object. The sale is completed when the highest bidder is awarded the contract. Within a period of four to six weeks after the auction - subject to receipt of payment - the auction proceeds will be paid out by bank transfer or crossed cheque. You will receive a written statement of your sales by post within a short period of time. If objects were not sold in the auction, we will continue to offer them for sale at the agreed minimum price for approximately four weeks in the subsequent open sale.
