Dutch battle painter, student of Thomas Wyck. After a stay in Paris at the Gobelin manufactory, he worked in Haarlem. From 1708 H. was a battle chronicler in the service of the Austrian field marshal Prince Eugene, later he worked at the court of Elector Johann Wilhelm von der Pfalz, last in The Hague.
