Carl Saltzmann (Berlin 1847 - Berlin 1923) - Sell & Buy
German marine painter. S. was taught painting by H. Eschke 1868-71. He accompanied prince Heinrich on his world tour 1878-80 a. was also one of emporer Wilhelm's favourite marine painter; S. was with the emporer on his journeys many times. In 1896 he became professor for marine painting at the Berlin academy. Mus.: Berlin (Nat.-Gal.), Kiel, Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Wroclaw a. others. Lit.: Boetticher, Thieme-Becker, Bénézit a. others.
