German landscape painter. H. studied at the Berlin academy under G. Schadow and continued his studied in Paris under E. Isabey and E. Lepoittevin. After a sojourn in Italy in 1842/43 he settled in Berlin where he exhibited at the local salon but also in London, Rotterdam, Danzig, Leipzig and Lübeck. Mus.: Hamburg (Kunsthalle), Danzig, Gotha a. others. Lit.: Thieme-Becker, Bénézit.
