German painter, graphic artist a. art nouveau designer. U. studied at the Weimar Kunstschule as well as at the Munich academy under G. von Hackl, W. von Diez u. L. von Löfftz since 1884. He was in contact with the painter's colonies Dachau a. Worpswede; in 1902 he joined the Willinghausen painter's colony,.
