German landscape and architectural painter. B. studied 1870-74 at the Weimar art school under Th. Hagen. After a stay in Paris he settled in Munich in 1904. Numerous study trips through England, Holland, Italy and France as well as the Near East influenced his motifs, besides he also worked for the magazine 'Jugend'. Mus.: Weimar, Philadelphia.
