Rudolf Bauer (Lindenwald/Schlesien 1889 - Deal/New Jersey 1953) - Sell & Buy

German-American painter a. illustrator. B. studied since 1905 at the Berlin Akademie der Künste. He was co-founder of the progressive artist's group 'Novembergruppe' in 1919, 1912-21 he worked for the leading German avantgarde magazine 'Der Sturm'. He emigrated to the US in 1939. He was a well-known avantgarde artist of his time, the Guggenheim museum exhibited his works together with those of W. Kandinsky. After his death B. disappeared from public attention but was rediscovered since the 1980s. Mus.: New York (Guggenheim Mus.), Berlin, Vienna a. others. Lit.: Saur, Vollmer a. others.
