He studied 1889-93 in Munich at the Knirr painting school and at the academy under W. Lindenschmit and J. L. Raab. He settled in Vienna where he became member of the secession. In 1905 he became professor in Berlin. O. is a main exponent of the art nouveau inspired by East Asian Art. Mus.: Berlin (Nat. Gall.), Vienna (Albertina), Prague a. others.
