In original paper envelope - Richter is one of the most highly regarded contemporary artists. After training as a commercial artist, he studied at the Dresden Art Academy from 1951 and created numerous murals while still a student. In 1961, he moved to the West and resumed his studies until 1964. At the Düsseldorf Academy, he met S. Polke, G. Uecker, G. Graubner, and others. From 1971 to 1993, he himself was a professor at the Düsseldorf Academy. R. is a very versatile artist who has tried his hand at different styles. He is best known for his precisely painted, deliberately washed-out historical motifs, his colorful, giant abstract formats created with a squeegee, and his seemingly random combinations of color fields.
