1837. Oil/paper/wood. 53 x 74,5 cm. Lower left monogrammed and dated E. W. Olevano Octbr 1837. Scattered small retouchings. - German landscape painter. After training as a painter, W. worked for the decorative painter Ludwig Pose while simultaneously studying at the Düsseldorf Academy under Peter Cornelius, and later under J. H. C. Dahl in Dresden and Carl Rottmann in Munich. From 1835 to 1861, he lived in Rome and traveled to Greece from there. In 1864, he settled in Munich.
