Early 20th cent. Bronze, darkbrown patinated. H. Bronze 31 cm, overall height with marble plinth 33,5 cm. Signed R. Kaesbach, foundry mark BRÄUNLICH & LANGLOTZ. Depiction of a young man sitting bare-chested without a saddle on the back of a stallion, leading it tightly by the reins - German sculptor, studied at the academies in Hanau, Paris and Brussels, in 1903 he moved into his own studio in Grunewald, Berlin. From 1911 he participated in the Great Berlin Art Exhibitions, from 1939-1943 he took part in the Great German Art Exhibitions in Munich. He mainly created nudes, dancers and animals, large marble figures and grave monuments, but also antique nude motifs as small bronzes. Initially still oriented towards Art Nouveau, he soon turned more and more towards Naturalism. Lit.: Thieme/Becker

Vita:
German sculptor, studied at the academies in Hanau, Paris and Brussels, in 1903 he moved into his own studio in Grunewald, Berlin. From 1911 he participated in the Great Berlin Art Exhibitions, from 1939-1943 he took part in the Great German Art Exhibitions in Munich. He mainly created nudes, dancers and animals, large marble figures and grave monuments, but also antique nude motifs as small bronzes.
