Meissen. Designed 1745, made around 1860. Porcelain, colored. H. 26-28 cm. Crossed swords marks. Minimal restored and chipped. Five female figures as allegories of the senses, with corresponding attributes: Sight, with a telescope, eagle, and cherub with a lantern; Taste, with a fruit basket and monkey; Smell, with a perfume bottle, dog, and cherub; Hearing, with a lute, deer, and singing cherub; Touch, with a parrot, dog, and cherubs wrestling - German sculptor and modeller, learned in England the casting of plumb, brass and steel, worked after his return to Dresden 4 years for the court sculptor Vinache and entered 1735 the Meissen porcelain manufactory a s an assistant of J. J. Kaendler, he then became Kaendler's first employee and was envolved significantly in the development of numerous masterpieces.
