Großherzogliche Majolika-Manufaktur Karlsruhe. Around 1921-29. Majolica, glazed yellow on white, black and green painting. H. 55 cm. Manufactory mark, 1800, PROF. LÄUGER BADEN, Ec, Made in Germany, 28 (stamped). Minimal retouched chip to upper margin. Baluster shape with hooded lid, crowned by a sculptural guardian lion holding a ball under its left paw - Ceramist, painter, sculptor, architect, is considered one of the pioneers of German artistic ceramics and made a significant contribution to German Art Nouveau. In 1897, he founded the workshop Prof. Laeuger'sche Kunsttöpfereien, which belonged to the Tonwerke Kandern, where he created over 1000 designs for vessels and architectural ceramics. In 1916, Laeuger set up his own ceramics workshop in Karlsruhe, and from 1921-1929 he produced numerous designs for the Karlsruhe Majolica Manufactory

Vita:

Ceramist, painter, sculptor, architect, is considered one of the pioneers of German artistic ceramics and made a significant contribution to German Art Nouveau. In 1897, he founded the workshop Prof. Laeuger'sche Kunsttöpfereien, which belonged to the Tonwerke Kandern, where he created over 1000 designs for vessels and architectural ceramics. In 1916, Laeuger set up his own ceramics workshop in Karlsruhe, and from 1921-1929 he produced numerous designs for the Karlsruhe Majolica Manufactory
