Around 1982. Bronze, brown patinated. H. 44 cm, w. 43,5 cm, d. 5 cm. Monogr. WO, one of 6 copies. Small version of the memorial in the public space in Wilhelmshaven, which was made and erected by Otto in 1982. It is intended to commemorate the many nameless shipyard workers who were involved in the reconstruction of Wilhelmshaven. - German sculptor, studied sculpture in Berlin in 1948, 1957 prize at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition, lived with his family in the USA and moved to Worpswede in 1976, having accepted a professorship in Bremen. Throughout his oeuvre Otto dealt with figurative sculpture - in the form of torsos - and created his figurative human images in wood, granite, bronze and cast stone. Many of his works can be found in public spaces in various German cities.
