P. studied at the Munich and Düsseldorf academies, later held a professorship in the USA and exhibited several times at Documenta. The elements of light and fire and their traces play a central role in his work, he created light kinetic works as well as air and light sculptures. In one of his best-known cycles 'Blue Planet', he campaigned for the preservation of our 'Blue Planet'.
