Corneille 1987 as well as titled, lo. le. num. 118(125 and dat.1946. - Belgian-born painter, ceramicist, illustrator, poet and sculptor. C. grew up in the Netherlands and studied at the Amsterdam Academy from 1940 to 1943. C. joined 1947 the artist movement Reflex with Karel Appel and Constant Nieuwenhuys. A year later, together with other Neo-Expressionists, they founded the group CoBrA - CoBrA stood for the capitals of the artists' countries of origin: Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam. CoBrA's art was considered challenging and abstract - free of color and form tradition, surrealistic, expressive and experimental.
