Gelatine silver print, 16 x 25 cm, on the reverse stamp of the photographer and date stamp Nov 10 1930, matted and framed under glass, uninspected out of frame. - American photographer. H. had to work as a labourer when he was young. Later he was able to become a teacher and began taking photographs in 1903. The living and working conditions of ordinary people, and especially child labour, were his subjects. He pursued decidedly political purposes with his photos. Mus.: New York (MoMA).
