We are looking to hire a staff member (m/f/d) with immediate effect for the position of

GEMMOLOGIST (m/f/d) FOR THE JEWELRY DEPARTMENT AT OUR AUCTION HOUSE

ABOUT US:

As a long-established, family-run auction house, we have combined expertise with discretion and a passion for exceptional objects for nearly five decades. Through four major auctions and exhibitions each year, we auction approximately 3,000 items annually, ranging from Old Masters to contemporary art, jewelry and gemstones, watches, sculptures, designer handbags, and luxury goods.

SCOPE OF WORK:

• Professional identification, examination, and grading of diamonds and colored gemstones in jewelry using modern gemological equipment
• Analysis and testing of precious metals in jewelry
• Appraisal and valuation of high-quality jewelry for auction
• Cataloging of jewelry and, where required, preparation of short expert reports
• Providing expert customer consultation as part of business development

REQUIREMENTS:

• Certified qualification as a gemologist (m/f/d) from DGemG, GIA, Gem-A, SGG, or a comparable institution
• Several years of professional experience in gemstone testing and grading – ideally within the high-end retail sector or the auction industry
• Excellent written and spoken German, along with confident communication skills in English for an international audience
• Ability to work independently, combined with a friendly and customer-oriented approach
• Strong enthusiasm for high-quality jewelry
