English graphic artist, pupil of G. B. Cipriani in London, as early as 1757 he was awarded a prize by the Society of Arts, since 1764 he worked for the editor J. Boydell to reproduce the most important paintings in English collections, he developed into the most important master of the mezzotinto technique whose works were highly sought. Mus.: London (Brit.
