German painter. By birth Marie Dorette Caroline Schorer. Studied at the Berlin School of Applied Arts from 1882 to 1886. Studied in Munich with Erdtelt and Herterich from 1898 to 1889. As a woman, the Academy of Arts was closed to her. In 1890 she went to Paris. Her circle of friends in Paris included Max Liebermann, Rainer Maria Rilke, Theodor Heuß and Käthe Kollwitz. She exhibited in Paris and Germany, including at the Salon des Champ de Mars in 1893 and at Paul Cassirer in Berlin in 1912.
