German paintress a. graphic artist. S. studied in Düsseldorf, Hagen, Hannover a. Worpswede, where she collaborated with Bernhard Hoetger. S. was member of the Werkbund as well as the Novembergruppe. She exhibited in the Folkwang-Museum Hagen, in the Galerie Flechtheim in Berlin a. in New York. In 1933 she emigrated to South Africa. The artist's estate is kept in the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landesmuseum Schloß Gottorf. Lit.: Vollmer a. others.
