Hans Ditlev Christian Martens (Kiel 1795 - Kiel 1864) - Sell & Buy

German historical painter. M. studied at the Copenhagen Academy under Eckersberg and lived in Rome for several years from 1825, where he initially worked in Bertel Thorvaldsen's studio. When he settled in Hamburg in 1837, he was able to build on his successes in Rome.
