Claude-Émile Schuffenecker (Fresne-St-Mamès 1851 - Paris 1934) - Sell & Buy
French landscape painter. S. received drawing lessons, but initially worked as a stockbroker, where he became friends with Paul Gauguin. Both gave up this secure position and worked as freelance artists. He worked with Gauguin and van Gogh in Pont-Aven, Étreat and Yport at the end of the 1880s. In 1883, he took a job as a drawing teacher to earn a living. In the same year, he began taking lessons at the Académie Colarossi, where he met Manet and Pissarro.
