Paolo de Matteis (Piano del Cilento 1662 - Neapel 1728) - Sell & Buy
Italian history painter, one of the most important representatives of Neapolitan Baroque. M. was a pupil of Luca Giordano in Naples and Giovanni Maria Morandi in Rome. He was active in Rome and Naples, but also at the court of Louis XIV in Paris as well as in Austria, England and Spain. The vast majority of his works can be found in Italian churches. Mus.: Vienna (Kunsthist. Mus.), Neapel (Capodimonte), Oxford (Ashmolean Mus.), Dallas, Houston, Detroit.
