Gudrun Piper (Kobe/Japan 1917 - Wedel 2016) - Sell & Buy
German painter and sculptor. P. grew up in Japan and moved to Hamburg with her family at the age of ten. She studied in Düsseldorf and Berlin from 1937-43 and again at the Munich Academy in 1946. Together with her husband, the artist Max Hermann Mahlmann, she is an important representative of Concrete Art in Hamburg. She was awarded the Edwin Scharff Prize in 1986 and the Medal for Art and Science in 1997. Mus.: Hamburg (Kunsthalle), Kiel, Dordrecht, Kansas City. Lit.: Der Neue Rump.
