French Post-Impressionist painter. P. first studied at the Le Havre Academy, then at the Paris Academy under A. Cabanel. Since 1903 he exhibited at the Paris Salon, since 1904 also at the Salon des Indépendants. In 1907 he belonged to the avant-garde 'Groupe des XXX' alongside artists such as H. Matisse, R. Dufy and A.
