Franz Werner von Tamm (Hamburg 1658 - Wien 1724) - Sell & Buy

German animal, hunting and still life painter. T. received his training in Hamburg with D. von Sosten and H. Pfeiffer. In 1685-95 he was active in Rome where he was in contact with the Dutch landscape painters J. F. and P. van Bloemen. Recommendations from C. Maratti and G. van Wittel helped T. to get important commissions in Rome, later he became painter to the court in Vienna. Mus.: Vienna (Kunsthist. Mus.), Berlin (Gem.-Gal.), Dresden (Gem.-Gal.
