Hans Rottenhammer, Umkreis (München 1564 - Augsburg 1624, circle of) - Sell & Buy
German history and landscape painter. After being taught painting in the studio of H. Donauer in Munich R. travelled to Italy around 1590 with a scholarship of Duke Wilhelm V. In Rome he made friends with J. Brueghel and P. Bril. Since 1606 he lived in Augsburg. Mus.: St. Petersburg (Hermitage), Amsterdam (Rijksmus.), Rotterdam (Mus. Boymans-van Beuningen), Frankfurt (Städel), Munich (Alte Pinakothek), Den Haag (Mauritshuis) a. others. Lit.: Thieme-Becker.
