Flemish marine painter. Very little is known about his life. In 1609 he became member of the Antwerp St. Luke's guild, 1628-30 he lived in Genoa. He painted dramatic seascapes and battles, sometimes with monstrous fishes. Lit.: Thieme-Becker, Bernt.
