Norwegian landscape adn figure painter. E. was taught painting at the art school of J. F. Eckersberg in Kristiania, the later Oslo. Thereafter he studied at the Copenhagen academy and since 1872 at the Munich academy. He returned to his native country Norway in 1894. Mus.: Oslo (Nat.
