Icelandic landscape painter. Th. was taught as bookbinder before studying at the Copenhagen academy 1895-99 under H. Grönvold a. J. F. Vermehren with a scholarship of the Icelandic parliament. Thereafter he was pupil of H. Foss in Copenhagen until 1902. Because in Iceland he could not earn his living with his paintings alone he also worked as a drawing teacher a. set up a business with arts a. crafts supplies.
