Austrian landscape painter a. draughtsman. G. studied 1815-29 at the Vienna academy. Like his contemporary R. von Alt he painted many topographical views of Austria a. Italy, mostly in watercolours, among others for archduke Rainer. Between 1822 a. 1864 he exhibited almost annually at the Vienna academy.
