German painter, mainly of landscapes and vedute, and sculptor, trained as such by Fritz Behn in Munich 1951-56. In his Munich studio he worked in marble and bronze and created numerous works for public spaces, e.g. the "Zitronenjette" in Hamburg, the "Eisbären-Brunnen" in the Zoologischer Garten Berlin as well as animal sculptures in Munich-Hellabrunn, Schwandorf and Lucerne. Wagner was an honorary member of the Accademia internazionale delle Muse in Florence and a member of the National Sculpture Society in New York. Lit.: Der Neue Rump u.a.
