H.a.E, on the backing cardboard inscribed 'Avion'. - Provenance: Bought froms the artist's widow by the consignor's grandfather. - Worpswede landscape painter a. brilliant graphic artist. E. studied at the Munich academy under W. Dietz as well as in Karlsruhe under F. Keller. Together with F. Mackensen, F. Overbeck a. O. Modersohn he founded the Worpswede artist's colony in 1889. Their exhibition in the Bremen Kunsthalle a. in the Munich Glaspalast in 1895 was the breakthrough also for E. During WW I he worked as artist on the front.
