Berlin, KPM, 1849-1870. Porcelain. On a polygonal base and round stepped plinth the urn-shaped body with gilt snake handles. Royal blue ground. On the facial side, in a goldetched and crowned reserve the finely painted view of the Old Palace in Berlin with its green pergola and a side view. On the right side the monument of Frederic the Great on the Opernplatz and figural staffage. Sceptre and Pfennig mark, red orb and 'KPM'. H. 48,5 cm. - The 'Urbino'-type is one of the rarely shaped KPM vase types, the view of the Old Palace is most likely based on a design by Car Daniel Freydanck (1811-1887). In the directory the design is mentionned below no. 40, but it is missing in the KPM Archives. -
