The life-size model from 1897, the small-size version made soon after. On the top side of the plinth sign. 'Walter Schott. fec.(it), foundry mark: 'Akt: Ges. Gladenbeck Berlin'. Patina slightly worn. H. 42,5 cm (figure), h. 4 cm (marble base). - - A German sculptor and medallion maker, studied 1880 - 1883 at the Berlin Academy, created a number of designs for KPM Berlin, Rosenthal and the Schwarzburger Werkstätten. In 1897 Schott produced his most famous work, the female ball player, as a life-size bronze sculpture for the flower garden at the southern end of the Königsallee in Düsseldorf.
