Paris, early 20th cent. Bronze with brown patina. H. 39,5 cm, sign. on the base 'FERRAND', label on the front inscribed: 'SPADASSIN EXP_ON DES BEAUX-ARTS, PARIS', verso stamped 'BRONZE Garantie AU TITRE PARIS'. - French sculptor. Studied under Mathurin Moreau and Levasseur. Since 1876 Ferrand was represented in the saloon of the 'Société des Artistes Français' with portrait busts in marble and bronze, as well as with genre statuette, of which especially 'L`Indiscrète', 'Le Guetteur' and 'Pêcheuse' got famous.
