In 1920 he was co-founder of the pedagogic university of Shanghai. 1921-49 he was lecturer at several Chinese universities. Later he had important offices but was repeatedly harassed by the communist party. Inspired by Japanese mangas F. developed a very reduces style of great expression. Merging eastern a. western art in a great variety of subjects F. is considered to be one of the most important Chinese artists of the 20th cent.
