H. was an autodidact in painting, by the medium of J. Hoffmann he came in contact with established artist in Vienna; in 1920 he became member of the Sonderbund, in 1930 member of the Vienna secession, where he had been exhibiting since 1921. H. travelled extensively, among others to South America.
