St. Petersburg, 1857. Silver, interior gilding, indistingt stamped '84' Zolotnik, MM. cyrillic 'Sasikow' with court double eagle, assay mark cyrillic 'UA 1857' for I. Awdejew (assay master 1852-62), city mark indistingt. Conical beaker in shape of a barrel engraved. Cartouche with engraving 'Sovenir de VB 1859'. H. 9 cm, diam. 7,5 cm, weight c. 150 g. - The company Sasikow was founded in 1793 in Moscow and was from 1837 court goldsmith of the Tsar. 1842 Ignaty Sasikow, the son of the founder, opened a shop in St. Petersburg and exhibited at the World Expo 1862 in London.
