An Art Nouveau living room suite 'Purkersdorf'

Design from 1903 for the entrance hall of the Purkersdorf Sanatorium. With lacquered wood and black-white belt webbing with cushions. Comprising a table and 5 armchairs. Executing: Franz Wittmann, Etsdorf am Inn,reedition from the 1980ies. With executing mark 'JH Made by Wittmann Austria'. Traces of usage. Armchair h. 70 cm, w. 61 cm, d. 61 cm. Table h. 71,5 cm, 70,5 x 70,5 cm. - Austrian architect and designer of consumer goods. He studied at the Higher State Crafts School in Brno beginning in 1887 and after that at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna by Karl von Hasenauer and Otto Wagner. Together with Koloman Moser he was a founding member and one of the main representatives of the Wiener Werkstätte. In addition to it, Hoffmann has been very successful as an architect: 1904 building and interior decoration of the Purkersdorf Sanatorium, 1905-11 building of Palais Stoclet in Brussels, 1907 Interior decoration of Kabarett Fledermaus in Vienna.
