Oil/canvas, 70 x 30 cm, at the lower margin monogr. a. dat. H. B. 1946, on the frame sign. a. dat. Hans Breinlinger 1946, on the reverse titled 'Nußknacker' as well as dat. Weihnachten 1946. - German painter. B. became a photographer before studying at the Karlsruhe academy under W. Trüber since 1910. B. exhibited succesfully in South Germany before he was introduced to the Berlin society by his brother-in-law Lovis Corinth; he exhibited with the local secession in 1932. In the following year he also exhibited at the world fair in Chicago. Some of his works were seized as 'degenerate' by the Nazis in 1937. His studio in Berlin burnt in 1943 a. he returned to South Germany after the war. B. also made many glass windows a. murals for churches.
