Meissen, 19th cent. The model from 1786/1787. A female figure dressed in an antique style as an allegory of the purified love stands opposite a genius who holds a butterfly in his hand as a sign of immortality. Crossed swords mark, model's no. 'J 50', impressed '110', '7' in black. Min. best. H. 37 cm. - Literature: Comp.: P. von Spee: Die klassizistische Porzellanplastik der Meissener Manufaktur von 1764-1814, Bonn 2004, p. 373, cat. no. 208. - Since 1768 trained in the Meissen manufactory he became since 1774 the closest collaborator of J.J. Kaendler. He created et al. classicistic figures based on the model of sculptures in the Dresdner Antikensammung and on plaster casts of the Mengs'sche Abgußsammlung.
