Nymphenburg, c. 1920. Amphora-vase with antique stylized figures against a mat-red ground with rich gilt decoration. At the sides 2 handles with mascarons and plastic snakes. Manufactory mark. H. 35,5 cm. - Lit. Ziffer, Nymphenburger Moderne, München 1997, p. 313. - active as a painter at the Nymhenburg manufactory from 1912 until his death. He based himself on chinoiserie engravings and prints of the 18th century, translating these in a modern language of large gilt chinoiserie figures finely burnished and toolded against a subtle mat ground.
