Three drawing books with alltogether 27 charcoal a. pencil drawings, 7,5 to 20,5 x 6,5 to 21 cm, all with the estate stamp, one sheet sign. H. Zille, all sheets mounted. - We are grateful to Detlef Rosenbach for kindly confirming the autenticity. - Draughtsman, graphic artist, painter a. photographer who is famous for his depictions of the Berlin working class milieu. Z. was trained as lithographer but also took lessons with Th. Hosemann at the Königliche Kunstschule in Berlin. At the turn of the century he began to develop his typical style. In 1903 he became member of the secession. He gained great popularity with his works for the magazin 'Simplicissimus'.
