The Holy Family with the Infant St. John

Lot-No. 26 | Proceeds: 9.900,00 €

Oil/wood, 115 x 85,5 cm, rest. - The painting at hand is a variant of Andrea del Sartos painting in the Hermitage, an oeuvre that the works of G. B. Verrocchio are stylistically closely related to. Louis Waldmann discovered the artist"s name in archives in 2001 and presented a list of works related to him. The painter merges the different styles of the Florentine Cinquecento. The painting at hand shows that V. was not only influenced by Mannerism but also by classical High Renaissance.
