Royal Copenhagen and St. Petersburg, around 1900. Fine decoration with flower painting ("Saxon Flower"), partly with coat of arms of the Russian Tzar and Tzaress ("AM"). Overall 79 parts. 57 parts from Royal Copenhagen: 4 tureens with lid (h. 15 to 31 cm, 1 with saucer), 6 oval plates (31 x 23,5 cm to 61 x 22,5 cm), 3 round plates (diam. 32,5 to 36 cm), 25 dinner plates (diam. 25 cm, 2 with very min. chips at the rim), 12 soup plates (diam. 25 cm), 5 small plates (diam. 22 cm), 2 sauce boats (h. 14,5 cm, 1 saucer. min. rest.. to the rim), spice bowl. 22 parts from the St. Petersburg workshop: 5 dinner plates (diam. 25 cm), 10 soup plates (diam. 25 cm), 7 small plates (diam. 22 cm). Manufactory marks. - Prov.: Acquired on the Munich art market in the 1970s (see: Weltkunst 1979, no. 6, p. 582). - The Russian Empress Maria Feodorowna (1847-1928), born Princess Dagmar of Denmark, installed her summer estate Hvidøre near Copenhagen in 1906. Therefore she commissioned an extensive dinner service "Saxon Flower" at the Royal Copenhagen workshop. The former Empress and Dowager Princess spent her last years after the Russian revolution at Hvidøre. After her death the whole estate came to an auction in 1929. Through this auction parts of the famous dinner service came onto the international art market.
