Meissen, middle of 18th cent. Naturalistically painted bird on a branch base with insects. Partly rest. Crossed swords in u"glaze blue. H. 24 cm. - Kaendler mentions this model in his Arbeitsbericht from 1741. See: Pietsch, Die Arbeitsberichte des Meissener Porzellanmodelleurs Johann Joachim Kaendler, Leipzig 2002, p. 76. Another example of this rare figure is in the coll. Of the Metropolitan Museum, New York.
