China, late Qing-dynasty (1644-1911). Wood with jade-inlays and brass-mountings. Rectangular body with two-doors over a drawer at the front. At the doors and the sides inserted lotus-carvings of a white jadeite. Rich ornamental mountings, partly in the shape of bats and butterflies. At the top a handle in the shape of a bat over the symbol of Double Happyness, Shuang-xi. Inside 3 drawers, indicating the purpose as a jewellery box. H. 20,5 cm, 15,5 x 12 cm.
